Born and raised in the vibrant landscapes of India, I have travelled across continents with a passion for science. My research adventure began with a master’s degree in human Genomics from Panjab University, where I learned the intricacies of genetic research. Immediately after I joined a protein biochemistry; guided-evolution lab in IMTECH, India as a junior research fellow. This formative experience kindled my desire to understand the complexities of the immune system, leading me to Germany for my doctoral studies in Immunology. During my time there, I not only honed my research skills (and “tried” to learn german) but also contributed to the scientific community by publishing multiple peer-reviewed papers. While my German language skills did not impress the cashier at the supermarket, I graduated magna cum laude and decided to move to a different country for the next career move.
Transitioning to the United States for my postdoctoral training marked another exciting chapter in my career. Here, I focused on immunometabolism—a field that sits at the intersection of immunology and metabolism, revealing crucial insights into role of nutrients in health and disease. This shift not only broadened my scientific repertoire but also allowed me to connect with innovators and researchers from diverse backgrounds, enriching my work and personal life through collaborative efforts.
Beyond the laboratory, I have an insatiable wanderlust. Moving from one continent to another has been as much about exploring new cultures as it has been about advancing my career. Each journey has shaped my perspective and inspired new ideas, both in my research and personal experiences. When I’m not battling cramps from excessive pipetting, you can find me hiking through trails, exploring the outdoors with my dog. These moments of adventure not only rejuvenate my spirit but also fuel my enduring curiosity about the world around me.
